Frequently Asked Questions

Here at YOURTours we have designed a range of Small Group Hosted Tours both around our beautiful country of New Zealand and also a range of wonderful international departures. We have listened to our guests and the places people want to visit and with some of your ideas, we have created a range of itineraries that has something for everyone, and we are constantly developing new tours all the time.

We understand when booking a tour there are things that are important you want to know, such as what is included, how do I book and what type of accommodation do we stay in?

You will find all the answers here and if there is something you can’t find, just let us know and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Travel Style

The YOURTours team has designed a mix of tours, ranging from our short local 4 day Forgotten World/Bridge to Nowhere tour to our longer 28 day European touring holidays and everything in between.  Our small group tours are all designed with the active over 50's traveller in mind. When travelling on our tour coaches, we always ensure there are frequent comfort stops along the way at different points, allowing also for photos, short walks and coffee breaks.  Our touring days normally start around 8:30am and finish around 4.30pm, however you may get a few sleep ins too and our days are well paced, without the rush.

Our groups are very friendly and social, so it's just like travelling with a group of good friends or family.

How many people will be in my group?

You can expect a maximum of 18 travellers on tour plus our tour host.  We keep our group sizes small to ensure you have the freedom to move around and have a more intimate experience, allowing for the whole group to share special moments with the people and the environments we visit.   We believe a smaller group has more flexibility to sample smaller locally run restaurants and locations whilst on tour, allowing us to include other opportunities that may present themselves along the way.

Our smaller group size also ensures you get to know your fellow travellers, create friendships along the way and sometimes new lifelong friends can be made.

Who are our tours designed for?

Our hosted small group tours are designed by us, for you.  We believe we know the best locations to visit on each tour and we also include some special “hard to find” experiences for you to enjoy along the way.  Our tours appeal to a broad range of ages however, typically, the majority of our clients are aged 50 plus, and our tour planners keep this in mind when creating itineraries.  We do require all of our guests are able to walk a minimum of 1 kilometre unaided, due to some walking required when visiting the wonderful places on our itinerary, however some of our tours are less demanding.

If you are keen to tour with us and are concerned about mobility issues, call us and we can provide direction on which tours may be more suitable.

Where do we stay?

One of the most important and stress-inducing aspects of any major trip is accommodation, or where to sleep while on a trip.  With all of our tours YOURTours has taken care of this for you.  We have hand-picked all of your accommodation in places that we know and stay in ourselves.  Our international hotels are all quality accommodation and we try to ensure they are also just a short walk to the town centre where possible.

**Note on our domestic tours, some locations in New Zealand only allow for motel style accommodation; in this case we choose the best accommodation available.

What about solo travellers?

Some people choose to travel alone, and others may not have friends or family who share the same interests and wish to branch out and find a group of likeminded travellers.  YOURTours fits the bill perfectly, our small group hosted tours are designed for travellers over 50, friends, couples and solo’s alike. Our included dining and activities bring everyone together, creating lifelong memories and certainly new friendships, which extend well beyond your tour.

Solo travellers have the option of taking their own room for a supplement or opt for a room-share where available. We are happy to introduce same-sex guests open to sharing rooms, allowing you to decide if it is for you. We are very happy to assist where we can, so do not be afraid to ask.

How do we travel around?

We travel in a late modelled air-conditioned touring coach. With our group size being no more than 18 guests and our coach seating a minimum 28-36 people, this means you always have plenty of personal space onboard.  We operate a seat rotation policy, allowing everyone to experience different viewing perspectives through-out the tour.

Flexibility

Our tours are designed to provide you the best experience possible for everyone.  We do need to stick to our schedule in the itinerary, however if we pass through a town where you have a relative or you want to extend your stay at the start or end of the tour, don’t hesitate to let us know as we can tailor your holiday to accommodate.

Who will be my host?

YOURTours Hosts are all well-travelled industry professionals and handpicked by us for their skills, professionalism, and of course personality.  Their duty of care to our guests is our priority and that's why we tend to enlist our own YOURTours hosts, people we know, and wholeheartedly trust.

We are very proud of our passionate team of YOURTour Hosts. They are the first point of contact for guests 24/7 and obviously a great travel companion too.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance as soon as your trip is booked and to make sure that you are covered for cancellation fees, interruption costs and any other kind of unforeseen circumstance.  Just speak to a YOURTours Consultant who can help to arrange this for you.

Pre-Registrations

Whilst we are finalising the itineraries for our tour brochures, we do often have pre-registration options available for our tours waiting to be released.

With a pre-registration you are guaranteed ‘first dibs’ or ‘first chance’ to confirm your space.  To pre-register you only pay $250 per person pre-registration deposit against the tour.  Once the brochure is released, we contact you with the departure date and full itinerary, then allowing you seven working days to decide if you would like to confirm your booking.

If after reading the brochure and checking your calendar you decide yes, you want to book, at that time you pay the remaining tour deposit, and this confirms your place on the tour.

If after reading the brochure and checking your calendar you decide no, the tour is not for you after all, we will refund the full pre-registration deposit of $250 back to you straight away.
