May 2020 Newsletter

Well what a whirlwind this has been, Covid-19 has changed our jet-setting ways in the blink of an eye.

No doubt your life has been disrupted in unimaginable ways and I’m sure you’ll agree that the world may take a long time to recover. However, now we are at level 2, industries are starting to come back online and we are starting to go out again and will start travelling again.

Our travel team has reflected on what life may start looking like from level 2. The general consensus is, any rebound in travel and tourism, will start slowly and will initially be closer to home. Families who haven’t been able to be together will want to reunite, so I think we’re going to see a lot of family travel but in a different way, a safer way.

Going forward travel to countries like Australia will come slowly on board, as well as the Pacific Islands, then further afield.

As far as bookings go, being cautious about depositing future holidays is a certainty and those with credits need to weigh that balance with availability for 2021.  We’ve seen many 2020 bookings transferred to preferred 2021 options already, and the book with confidence policies within the industry is providing some reassurance.

We do know that the value of a trusted travel agent has never been more apparent, with the entire travel industry in New Zealand working extremely hard, under some very trying circumstances to repatriate, care for, and protect our clients, as well as our guests travelling to our country from overseas.

Our entire YOURTravel team has been and still is, working tirelessly behind the scenes for our clients during our level 4 and level 3 lockdown. Now with level 2 looming we can re-open the shop, come back together, and start seeing you all again.

Please remember we are all here to help, whether your travel be local, domestic or international.  So now is the time to let us help you plan that holiday within our own beautiful country or your holiday abroad in the coming year(s).

Booking through us at YOURTravel helps support your local economy and tourism as a whole, from airlines to ferries, hotels to porters, tour directors to the village store, and importantly, most services offered through us are at no additional cost to yourself. You can contact us during Level 2 by making an appointment to pop in to our ‘safe environment’ store, or by email, telephone, or even video calling.

With kind personal regards and my very best wishes to each and everyone.

6 nights/7 days

Departing 4th April 2021

Float amid the untouched beauty of Doubtful Sound on an overnight cruise.  Stay in stunning Queenstown and Wanaka, see Arrowtown in its autumn best and tour up the West Coast to Franz Josef before returning over Arthur's Pass.

Thank you to all of our tours clients for your ongoing support and below is a short update on our current outbound tours for 2020.
With borders closing around the world from mid-March, very sadly both of our fully booked Vietnam and Nile Cruise/Tours departing in March and April respectively, were affected at very short notice and the tours team worked very hard and successfully behind the scenes, during this incredibly unprecedented period, in-conjunction with our overseas operators to ensure we were able to postpone and secure both tours for a new departure date in 2021.

In addition to these two tours, our fully booked 2020 Alaska Cruise/Tour departing in May 2020 has also been postponed, however new dates have not yet been confirmed until Oceania Cruise Lines are able to confirm their sailing schedules for 2021/2022.

Our Tasmania Spring Fling Tour due to depart in November 2020 is currently still running, of course being entirely dependent on a new Trans-Tasman bubble and available flights.  All travellers booked on our Tasmania Tour will be advised of any update by end of August 2020, which allows us time to see if there is a Trans-Tasman bubble and available flights, in particular to Hobart.  As it stands at this point in time, all of our other tours due to depart in 2020 to Sri Lanka, India and Turkey have now been put into hibernation until further notice.

All of our tour clients currently booked on any of the above tours are being kept up-to-date on a direct basis, as pertinent and updated information comes to hand.

Summing up my lock down experience in two words.

''Yes,'' I'm even more due a trip to the hairdresser than I was here.
''No'', Not my everyday dress attire. My daughter and I are both dressed up as 'Cinderella.'
''Hence,'' Disney+ channel was my first online isolation purchase!

''Thanks'' to all my wonderful clients!
Your patience and compassion during these challenging times is much appreciated.

''Thanks'' to all my superb colleagues, who so quickly adapted to new working environments and applied tremendous effort throughout.

I'm excited about the future of travel with YOURTravel, and looking forward to the journey with you all.

New Zealand is getting ready for regional travel, and when you are ready for regional travel, please remember we are still here to assist.

During levels 4 and 3 New Zealand tourism businesses have been connecting with each-other, working on ways to offer fantastic experiences to our fellow New Zealanders and Residents whilst we remain in our Aotearoa bubble, and beyond.  YOURTravel have been actively present and in the forefront of such schemes.

We have been working with existing associates and have also put many new partnerships in place, of which a high percentage are with small local businesses like ourselves.  Together we have some really exciting New Zealand based travel opportunities for you, far too many to list here.

The lockdown has been a wonderful opportunity to up-skill on destinations, and further develop product knowledge, especially when it comes to domestic travel.

There really is so much to explore here in New Zealand. I hope you are excited to start thinking about all the possibilities we have in front of us and really support the local tourism industry.

Daily walks have been a big part of lockdown for my family, venturing further than just the normal round the block stroll. It's been nice to explore new places in our neighbourhood. We especially loved spotting teddy bears and seeing all the beautiful poppies for ANZAC day, so creative!

Supporting Local! During the lockdown I have enjoyed seeing our community spirit shine, with so much encouragement to support for local business. I have been making a real effort to buy locally when I have had the chance - especially when I could get a coffee again in level 3 was wonderful to get my Dark horse coffee fix!

5 nights/6 days

Departing 7th March 2021

Relax in waterfront hotels at Copthorne Omapere on the Hokianga, Ramada Resort, Taipa and Copthorne Waitangi. Take a leisurely drive to Cape Reinga where the Tasman and Pacific Ocean meet and explore the nearby beaches. Cruise out to Cape Brett in the Bay of Islands watching for dolphins.

A daily walk on our beautiful local beach (weather permitting) has been my happy place.

We are so lucky to be based In Paraparaumu Beach where we enjoy such magical sunsets, equally as stunning as anywhere in the world I say.

Keeping in daily contact with my elderly Mother, running errands for her, collecting groceries and meals, paying her bills, all part of the new "normal".

Cooking has taken on a whole new meaning with time to experiment on new recipes, I must admit to being very glad when takeaways opened again, although I have only had one so far, more to come am sure.

I am looking forward to returning to our new office, seeing everyone, and continuing with our 'new normal soon"!

If you are planning to travel internationally sometime in the near (or far) future, it is definitely worth investigating your options now.

You are welcome to pop in and investigate with us as soon as you are ready
(just remember we are now located at 17a MacLean Street, Paraparaumu Beach)

We have information on hand about 'Book with Confidence' policies.  Many travel companies are rewarding passengers who book soon with great savings, as well as booking and deposit flexibility, and Covid19 reassurance terms.

Clients with 'Booking Deposits,' in credit from previous tours, flights and cruises, can redeem these with YOURTravel *some exclusions apply.
